Step 3Drilling the holes

Cut an appropriately sized piece of copper clad board for the design that you made. You don't have to scrub or clean the board up yet at this point.
What we want to do here is to use the veroboard as a template to drill all the holes needed for the components.
Hold up both the veroboard and the copper clad board. The mirrored design on the veroboard and the copper side of the copper clad board should be facing you (both the copper sides should be meeting). Align the copper clad board behind the veroboard making sure that your design fits nicely onto the copper clad board. Carefully flip the boards around and tape them together. You can check the relative straightness of your copper clad board by using the holes on the veroboard as guides. Make sure that there's no movement between the two boards.
All you have to do now is to take your rotary tool and drill out all the holes for the components. Use a drill bit that will fit into the holes on the veroboard. You can enlarge the holes later on if there's a need, its the correct way to drill big holes anyways (by starting small). Hold the boards up against a light source or contrasting surface to check that you didn't miss any holes. Once you're absolutely sure (do a hole count if you must) you've drilled all the holes, remove the tape to separate the two boards.
Enlarge any holes that need enlarging.
